Geography – passion since childhood, inspiration for life

Geography – passion since childhood, inspiration for life

We start the project ‘Geography – passion since childhood, inspiration for life’ prepared under the governmental programme Społeczna Odpowiedzialność Nauki II. Current schoolyear 2023/2024 will witness a great jubilee of 50. edition of Geography Olympiad. To celebrate this magnificent occassion we want to share our passion and history of Olympiad – and show what we love geography for.

About the project ‘Geography – passion since childhood, inspiration for life’

The project will consist of:

  1. Series of lectures ‘What do geographers do?’ – online meetings with geographers working on various parts of our everyday life;
  2. Summary of 50 years of Geography Olympiad’s work towards popularisation of geography.

The rich history of Geography Olympiad will be available via Museum of Geography Olympiad accessible online (http://muzeum.olimpiadageograficzna.edu.pl/). It hosts souvenirs, photos and data about past editions. Students participating in current edition will also have opportunity to reach history through poster presentations shown during this year’s competition.

Project ‘Geography – passion since childhood, inspiration for life’ is cofinanced from the state budget, through funds granted by Minister of Education and Science through the programme Społeczna Odpowiedzialność Nauki II (currently managed by Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
